Product Specifications
The Honeywell ASC-SS1 is a shock sensor that detects shock and vibration associated with a glass breaking event. The ASC-SS1 protects any type of glass that is mounted on, including wired, tempered, laminated and plate glass, within 8 feet from where the sensor is mounted. For optimum performance, it is recommended to mount the ASC-SS1 in the corner of the window, but not closer than 1 "from the window frame, directly on the glass.
The Honeywell ASC-SS1 shock sensor connects to any hardwired security system via 2-wire connection to a standard protection loop or zone. The shock sensor draws less than 1 mA of power. You can mount the ASC-SS1 in series with multiple sensors to protect a number of windows while only using one zone on your alarm panel.
To test the shock sensor, gently hit the protected piece of glass with a blunt plastic or rubber object in the farthest corner from where the ASC-SS1 is mounted. If the sensor activates, you can feel confident that the glass break sensor is working, as a current event that breaks the glass will generate a greater amount of shock energy. The ASC-SS1 is equipped with transient suppression devices that protect against false alarms caused by lightning strikes.
The small size of the ASC-SS1 shock sensor allows you to protect your windows without unsightly and maintenance intensive alarm tape. You can protect your windows against glass breakage, effectively allowing you to detect an intruder before entering the property.
